Trying to find ways to clean a green pool may be frustrating because cleaning it physically has no immediate effect. I’m not saying that it’s not important to clean your pool. This is however effective as a preventive measure before the pool turns green. When your pool is already green, the fastest way to clean it is by lowering the levels of chlorine PH to 7.1 at most. This is not the only way so I will take you through this and other options in detail.
How To Clean A Green Pool Fast
- Reducing the level of Chlorine concentration to a PH of 7.1 at most. Metals in the pool react with highly concentrated chlorine which leads to the color change.
- Scrubbing the walls of your pool. In cases of chlorine-resistant algae, you will have to empty the pool and use a hard brush to scrub the algae off the wall manually.
- Shocking. This is adding chlorine to the pool. It is highly effective when algae are the reason the pool turned green. Algae are destroyed in a short time. This may be ineffective if the reason for the change in color is a high chlorine concentration.
- Check the pump and filter. Have them cleaned by letting water flow through for about a day.
After managing to change your pool color successfully, ensure that you maintain this state. Clean the pump and filter every once in a while. Keep the concentration of chlorine below 7.
