For a very long time, I assumed that the foundation of a house is the most expensive part when building. My assumption was based on the importance of a foundation to a house. However, I recently visited a construction site and found out that the framing of a house is the most expensive part when building a house. The foundation of a house is also expensive but does not require a lot of resources to install compared to a house framing. When I observed an ongoing construction, I understood the reasons why house framing is the most expensive part of the house when building.
Reasons Why A House Framing Is The Most Expensive Part When Building A House
- High transportation costs. The makeup of the framing makes it difficult to transport. Apart from being heavy, I noticed that the framing is long. To transport house framing, you will need a long track which charges higher compared to smaller tracks.
- Cost of hiring labor. I noticed that the number of workers responsible for the house foundation is fewer compared to the ones responsible for framing. Erecting a house framing needs more labor due to its complexity. The framing needs to be measured, cut and nailed. Different measurements are depending on the part it’s being installed. It will, therefore, require a lot of time to complete house framing.
You can choose to install metal framing or wood framing. The cost of installing metal house framing is more expensive due to its bulky nature. To save up on framing costs you have to build a small house.
