Fans do not use a lot of electricity. The operating system of a fan is very simple. It only consists of one motor that runs the whole fan. Motors do not need a lot of electricity to work. A fan uses 10 watts-100 watts of electricity on average.
This depends on the size of the fun. The bigger the fan, the more electricity it will use e.g. 100 watts. You should however know that the shell does not matter, the size of the motor is what determines the consumption of electricity. The bigger the motor, the more energy it will use to run.
Ceiling fans also do not use a lot of electricity. The shell design might be different but the motor is one and the same. Ceiling fans do have big motors but still uses 60-100 watts of electricity on average.
