The reason you hear a gurgling sound when flashing a toilet is an obstruction in the drain pipes.
Air normally runs through a drain pipe with ease but a blockage pushes back the air. This creates a negative air pressure and the air is forced back.
The force that pushes the air back is really great and that is why it makes a gurgling sound.
A toilet that produces a gurgling sound when being flushed however, can be fixed this way;
- Use a plunger and pump up to 5 times
- Then try flushing your toilet.
- If the gurgling sound does not stop,
- Repeat the same process until it does. With a maximum of five tries, it has to have stopped making the sound.
